I received an email today, supposedly from ebay, requesting account information "Verification." It has a direct link in it that leads to a page that looks like it's ebay's but I have serious doubts.
First, it was sent to me by way of an email address that I do not have registered with ebay. Rather, it's an address I frequently receive spam to. Second, the source has already been black-listed by SpamCop. Third, it is hosted at a domain that does not appear to be in any way connected with ebay, and the form is processed at yet another domain, also not connected with ebay. Lastly, they are asking for WAY too much information. This email has all the earmarkings of interstate credit card fraud.
If you are an ebay member and receive an email with the subject "Account Review Required", until I can confirm the authenticity of this email, DO NOT RESPOND TO IT!
Ebay, the FTC and the FBI have all been alerted.
