Nancy Kappler of the Suffield, CT school system, in association with the Capital Region Education Council, will be sponsoring a free workshop for parents interested in learning more about the specifics of exactly how to protect their children from harm online. The program is open to the general public and is expected to last about an hour with time afterward for questions and answers. All welcome who wish to attend. Mark Brasche, owner of New England Webmasters and author of "Child Safety-Net: How to protect your children from harm online," has accepted the invitation to be the main speaker of this program. Topics will include discussion of the various ways predators on the internet target individuals and gather personal information on them, the importance of software filtering in the home and a live demonstration how to install and configure Cyber Patrol, a popular and powerful software filter. For those still unsure of their ability to recreate the steps illustrated in the presentation in their own homes, copies of the book "Child Safety-Net: How to protect your children from harm online" will be available for purchase at the door.
